Trails Reopen Weekend

Weekend Outdoors Trails

Reopened trails, a weekend-only Rail Trail, and lake-town evenings — here’s how to string the best of the Shuswap together in one perfect weekend.

Day1
The curved wooden wharf at Marine Peace Park as the light turns gold
Friday evening

Land and unwind at the wharf

Roll into Salmon Arm, drop your bags, grab a bite downtown, and stroll Marine Peace Park as the light goes gold over the bay.

Day2
Coffee and a pastry from a downtown Salmon Arm roaster
Saturday morning

Coffee, then point west

Fuel up with a coffee and a pastry downtown, then head toward Sorrento — about 20 minutes on Highway 1.

The view over Shuswap Lake and Copper Island from the Mt. Baldy trail
Saturday midday

Hike Mt. Baldy (freshly reopened!)

A ~7.6 km round trip of boardwalks and creek crossings opens onto Copper Island, Blind Bay, and the Adams Plateau. Check the debris-flow notice at the trailhead and tread lightly on the summit.

Plated dinners at a relaxed downtown Salmon Arm restaurant
Saturday evening

Patio dinner by the lake

Back in town for a downtown patio dinner and a lakeside walk — cap it with a scoop of ice cream by the water.

Day3
The Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail along the shoreline of Mara Lake
Sunday morning

Ride (or walk) the Rail Trail

The Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail is back along Mara Lake on weekends — flat, car-free, water on one side and hills on the other. The 21 km Enderby–Grindrod–Mara stretch is open daily.

Sunset over Shuswap Lake
Sunday afternoon

One last lap of the waterfront

One more lap of the waterfront, a coffee for the road, and a promise to come back when the next trail reopens.
